ETHICAL ISSUES OF ZARA

                                             ZARA

INTRODUCTION

Brand logo
Zara, flagship brand of the Inditex Group, has gained a reputation as the ultimate destination for European fashion, with more than 2,200 stores in 96 countries, leading at a 3.37 billion euros in profit in 2017. But just how ethical is Zara? How is this fast fashion  giant impacting on people and the planet? Let's discuss some of them.

As my perception the brand ZARA, they are well concern about the society mostly to people, animals, planet, etc

  HUMAN BEINGS (PEOPLE)

  • Zara allows to know, how their products are made.
  • They totally prohibit unwanted activities like forced labour and discrimination in the workplace.
  • They are strongly against child labour, who are under 16 age.
  • They are much polite to their workers and supplier for their hard work.
  • The brand have given A+ in policies, auditing and supplier relations by the workers and supplier.

  ANIMALS

  • Zara includes a strict ban on angora and fur.
  • They have also banned on stocking products tested on animal.
  • They mostly use the wool from non-mulesed sheep.
   MORE ETHICAL ISSUES
  • To support rural communities, their clothes are made with organic cotton and sustainable materials.
  • Zara was world's first clothing company to receive the World Fair Trade product mark.
  • World Fair Trade Organisation is for developing world to produce ethical and eco fashion.

  4. The idea of caring for our planet may seem like self-evident common sense to the indigenous tribes of the world who live in close connection to the Earth. So I liked the idea that you mentioned about any brand that is so environment friendly.

    1. Actual meaning of mulesing is the removal of strips of wool-bearing skin from around the breech of a sheep to prevent the parasitic infection flystrike. To overcome this they are taking non-mulesed sheep.

  9. Zara made an unethical conduct few years back regarding their reductive fashionwears. Their ethichs towards their customers lack in a few places. And how astounding it is that ZARA is just one of the examples. There r millions more to know.
